She May Never Know

I am an 80s girl and to tell you frankly I think that was a GREAT era!!!  The boy bands were worth every shriek ... the movies were shallow but fun ... the clothes were awesomely colorful ... Oh well ... let's talk about the 80s some other time .  This time let's talk about what Baby Jayden  (being born on the 21st century) will be missing when she grows up ...

(unless of course I tell her about the good old days of typewriters & dial-up modems hehehe)

OK here goes :

1.    Finding books in a card catalog at the library

2.  Rotary dial televisions with no remote control

3.  The wonderful Betamax

4.  Finding out information from an encyclopedia (gosh I love doing this when I was young)

5.  Waiting for your favorite song to be played on the radio so you can record it.

6.  Floppy Disks (remember that "special" liquid we have to drop on the disk opening to clean the computer?)

7.  Playing music on an audio tape using a Walkman  (this was a highly coveted item during my time)

8.  Putting film in your camera

9.   NOT knowing exactly what all of your friends are doing and thinking at every moment

10.   Actually going down to a Blockbuster store to rent a movie (this i will not miss)

11.   Correct spelling of phrases, rather than LOLs BRBs AMOFs FYEOs

12.  When Menudo was popularly known as a group rather than a delicious dish
(oh my ... they were my guilty pleasure ... I watched all their concerts)

Oh Yes Robbie Rosa ... you are the love of my 80s life

AND ...

13.   When Spam was just a meat product rather than annoying junk postings

but who am I kidding … coming from a Filipino household … how could she not know S-P-A-M

(oh yah we have fried Spam, Spam with rice, Spam with egg, Omelet Spam, Spamburger, Spam Salad, Musubi Spam etc etc etc )

I hope you guys had fun reading and reminiscing ...

Now go and cook some yummy Spam !

An Affair With A Cake

I went to our neighborhood grocery store ... Trader Joe's
This is not a large grocery chain but it sells many items under its own private labels.
I read somewhere that their coffee cake is to die for.
Of course I got curious and got one!

Baker Josef's
Cinnamon Crumb Coffee CAKE MIX

For the "purist" baker ... YES it's a CAKE MIX ... you can put your eyebrows down

Okay ... back to my "affair" ... this cake is only $2.99 ... so what the heck let's go !!!
It only needed a few items :

The instructions gave me a choice of layering it or just setting all the cinnamon crumbs on top.  Of course I opted for ... the layering !!! why??? because  I want to make it laborious (as if my life is not complicated enough already ... hehehe)

the first layer

the second layer with all the cinnamon crumbs on top

Pop it in the oven for 45 minutes and then ....

Taaddaahh !!!

the layering effect with the  cinnamon crumbs in the middle

a close up look :-)

Now ... The Verdict ...

The cake is moist and fluffy

BUT ... (yes folks there's a "but")

It is TOO SWEET !!!

The cinnamon crumb topping is loaded with too much Sucrose, Fructose, Maltose, Lactose or shockingly known as S-U-G-A-R ... enough to give you a sugar rush overload for days !!!

If you would like to try and bake one too ... go ahead make your day (hahaha) BUT do not use all the cinnamon crumbs.  I think it will end up PERFECT despite the fact that it's a cake mix!  (yes, Martha ... a cake mix can be SCRUMPTIOUS too)

A Comic Relief At Best Buy Store

Best Buy store is associated so strongly with technology.  There is too much technology in that store that it turned into Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry  ... and started making things ... disappear!!!
Read on and find out what happened to me inside the store ...

While my hubby Joseph was busy buying I decided to look around.  As I merrily wandered every aisle ... out of the blue ... VIOLA ... this caught my attention

Now tell me this isn't funny !!!
