She May Never Know

I am an 80s girl and to tell you frankly I think that was a GREAT era!!!  The boy bands were worth every shriek ... the movies were shallow but fun ... the clothes were awesomely colorful ... Oh well ... let's talk about the 80s some other time .  This time let's talk about what Baby Jayden  (being born on the 21st century) will be missing when she grows up ...

(unless of course I tell her about the good old days of typewriters & dial-up modems hehehe)

OK here goes :

1.    Finding books in a card catalog at the library

2.  Rotary dial televisions with no remote control

3.  The wonderful Betamax

4.  Finding out information from an encyclopedia (gosh I love doing this when I was young)

5.  Waiting for your favorite song to be played on the radio so you can record it.

6.  Floppy Disks (remember that "special" liquid we have to drop on the disk opening to clean the computer?)

7.  Playing music on an audio tape using a Walkman  (this was a highly coveted item during my time)

8.  Putting film in your camera

9.   NOT knowing exactly what all of your friends are doing and thinking at every moment

10.   Actually going down to a Blockbuster store to rent a movie (this i will not miss)

11.   Correct spelling of phrases, rather than LOLs BRBs AMOFs FYEOs

12.  When Menudo was popularly known as a group rather than a delicious dish
(oh my ... they were my guilty pleasure ... I watched all their concerts)

Oh Yes Robbie Rosa ... you are the love of my 80s life

AND ...

13.   When Spam was just a meat product rather than annoying junk postings

but who am I kidding … coming from a Filipino household … how could she not know S-P-A-M

(oh yah we have fried Spam, Spam with rice, Spam with egg, Omelet Spam, Spamburger, Spam Salad, Musubi Spam etc etc etc )

I hope you guys had fun reading and reminiscing ...

Now go and cook some yummy Spam !
